1 in 10 Britains were Victims last year

According to a study in Britain, 12% of Britains were victims of online fraud.


According to a recent survey,1 in 10 Britain's were victims of online fraud in the past year.

The study, sponsored by YouGov and Get Safe Online, surveyed more than 2000 adults and found that almost 2 million people were victims of online shopping fraud, 1.5 million experienced some sort of general online fraud while 1.2 million people were subject to online banking or credit card fraud.

According to the survey, Internet Safety: The State of the Nation, the average user has nine different passwords. and 5% of those surveyed admitted that they use just one password for all their online activity. Some of the other survey findings were:

  • 46% did not have anti-spyware installed
  • 7% had no anti-virus software
  • 13% of users did not use a firewall
