"I'm wondering if you'd know if the New York Microsoft Settlement is legitimate or a scam? I've received a packet in the mail and several emails regarding a settlement that was supposedly reached between NY state and Microsoft that will give consumers a credit based on MS products they have, including Win XP, Word, Excel, and others.
I can't seem to get any info on whether this is legitimate or a scam, so if anyone does know, I'd appreciate the info. I'm calling the NYS consumer protection hotline to see if they have any idea as well."
