In years past, those running for office relied on expensive television advertisements to relay their political message to as many people as possible. Because of the Internet, candidates running for office today have another venue that reaches potential voters; viral videos.

Viral videos are videos that are shared through email, social networking and media-sharing websites such as YouTube and Veoh. YouTube has devoted a channel specially to the 2008 political campaign, called You Choose 08.

Anyone can make a political statement with viral videos that may capture the imagination and hearts of millions, on a shoe-string budget.
