The Puppy Cam is the newest Internet video to assault our senses. The good news is that it is far cuter than the Chuck Norris Facts or the RickRoll. The bad news is that the Puppy Cam has entranced people with the rompings and stompings on video of these adorable puppies. Where the Puppy Video Came FromThe puppies are the offspring of Kika, a Shiba Inus. Since Shiba Inus are a rare breed of Japanese hunting dog, the puppies are often mistaken for better known breeds such as a Japanese or American Akita. The owners of the litter, A San Francisco couple who wish to remain anonymous, set up the cam on Ustream.tv as a sort of “baby monitor.” By using this set up, they could keep track of the puppies. So far, it has been effective--the couple reports that on two occasions they raced home when noticing puppy trouble on Ustream. How the Puppy Cam Became a Viral VideoThe puppies first came to the attention of the employees at Ustream. According to co-founder Brad Hunstable, “It started out in the Ustream offices; our employees found the puppies when they only had one or two viewers.” From there, the employees sent the video link to friends and family, then they sent it on, and an internet sensation was born. Why Do We Care About the Puppy Video?There is no doubt that Puppy Cam has taken over the offices of America. It is very common to see workers with the video set on a tab on their computers, switching back and forth when they think no one is looking. As people continue to watch the puppies mature, develop, and grow on the video, people can not help but develop favorites. Puppy Cam Puppies for Adoption?If you are interested in adopting one of these puppies from the Puppy Cam, you are out of luck. The streaming video has brought in so much attention that every puppy is spoken for. But do not fret, puppy peepers. Ustream is sending each adoptive family a webcam so they can continue to video the progress of the puppies.
