Re:cycledTweets is a new and innovative campaign that gets rid of unwanted Twitter trash tweets while benefitting eco-charities at the very same time!

Twitter has become one of the most popular social networking and micro-blogging websites online. Twitter provides a simple-to-use method of staying in touch with friends and family. It is also used as a self-promotion and useful marketing tool. Although the free service provides many positive aspects and benefits, there are several negative aspects of the service as well.

If you happen to be one of the millions of followers who have jumped on the Twitter bandwagon, you have more than likely seen a few Twitter tweets that not only verge on annoying spam, but are downright lame. After all, who has the time to read how many cups of Joe Johnny drinks on any given morning or what color pants Susie has finally decided to slip on?

Twitter fans, take note. An innovative campaign is underway that removes unwanted tweets and recycles the annoying messages into something beneficial. Re:cycledTweets provides an alternative method of getting rid of mundane messages while benefiting charities at the same time. While ignoring or unfollowing a fellow-Twitterer alleviates tweet spam and nonsense messages, it can be time consuming and monotonous. Re:cycledTweets is not only fun and entertaining, the service helps eco-charities as well.

Re:cycledTweets

Re:cycledTweets is a collaborative effort by the non-profit organization Global Inheritance and McKinney. For every tweet that is recycled, one cent is donated to recycling education programs, including the popular program, TRASHed – Art of Recycling. Thus far, more than 7,000 artists have taken part in the TRASHed campaign that transforms plastic recycling bins into beautiful interactive art.

How to Recycle Tweets with Re:cycledTweets:

  • When an unwanted Twitter tweet is received, simply type “@reply” in the message box and copy and paste the original tweet.
  • At the end of the message, type “#recyclethis.”
  • When the message is finished, click the reply button and send.
  • Re:cycledTweets recycles the message and within a matter of minutes, sends a new-and-improved message to the sender. The recycled message has rearranged the characters of the original tweet into something so much better and far more interesting!
  • A handy “Try it” area is also available on the website.

Now anyone can have a ball recycling tweet trash and cut down on cyber-pollution at the same time! Re:cycledTweets is a fun and free service that takes boring and annoying Twitter messages and recycles them, for a good cause.
