The websites listed below offer a large variety of free interactive coloring activities and virtual painting projects for older children.

As the long winter months settle in, children may spend more time online. Keep children entertained with the many kid-safe and child-friendly interactive projects listed below. These free interactive coloring and online painting activities promote creativity and artistic flair. Although all of the projects listed below are done online, some can also be printed.

Segmation's Seg Play is a wonderfully creative website that is similar to traditional painting-by-number. To begin, click on the "Seg Play"icon on Segmation website homepage. Choose a image category and select difficulty level.

The black and white image outline is displayed with a variety of numbers. Click on the corresponding paint number until the paint disappears and color in until picture is complete. Pictures can also be submitted (see specific guidelines for instructions). Java is required (free download). This site is bookmark-worthy!

This website encourages and inspires the painter and artist in children. No pre-made drawings are available. Draw and paint unique and creative designs, choose a frame and send to friends or loved ones.

ZeFrank website offers another unique artistic experience with Scribbler. To use, draw a personalized etching and click the “Scribbler Settings” button for more options. When drawing is complete, the fun begins. Click “Start Scrambling” and see what happens. To locate easily from homepage, click on “The Scribbler” under the “Interactive Toys” category. Another family favorite.

This artistic website is highly recommended and a personal favorite. The National Gallery of Art has assembled a wonderful selection of artistic programs for children. Brushter is an abstract painting program although realistic paintings can be drawn as well. Click the "auto" buttons and watch Brushter come to life. Shockwave is required.

I Know That website is another creative interactive website that allows users to create unique and personalized designs. Mimic great artists with the many available choices Paint offers including textures, water colors, paint, sponge, points, and more. Free registration is required in order to save projects or send to others. Type in "Paint" in the search box, click "create your own artwork" and click the “start” button to begin painting. Requires Adobe Shockwave(free download).

Zefrank website's Draw Toy is an interesting website with many things to see and do. To begin, simply draw a picture freehand and watch the Kaleidoscope come to life. To locate the Kaleidoscope area of the website, click the “dtoy vs byokal” link under “Interactive Toys”. Fun for the entire family.

The Up To Ten website offers a twist on the traditional paint-by-number activity. To begin, add the numbers together, select the corresponding numbered paint and squirt the paint in the appropriate spot. To locate Transylvania Pet Shop Vermin Number Color, click on the “Up To Ten Free” area and click on the “Coloring” link.
