Bookmarks are where you save your favorite Web sites in Firefox, Netscape and Mozilla. Keep them organized and you'll always be able to find the sites you want.
Keeping your bookmarks folder organized is essential if you want to be able to find your favorite Web sites again. Organizing your bookmarks is best done as you add them to your bookmark list. If you haven't been organizing as you add, you can do it later; it's just a little more work.
Here is a tutorial to show you how you can get your Bookmarks in Firefox organized, and keep them that way.
Organizing Bookmarks in Firefox
Open Bookmarks Manager - In the link menu at the top of your browser, click "Bookmarks". From the drop down menu click "Organize Bookmarks".
Create a Folder - In the bookmarks manager you'll find a button at the top that says "New Folder"; click on this button.
Name Your Folder - What do you have too much of? You have a lot of Web pages that can fit into one category, maybe Web sites about your favorite hobby? Give your new folder a name to go with those Web pages. Add a description to the folder if you want to. Click "OK".
Example: Say you like cats. You have a page about feeding cats, one about grooming cats and another about cat toys. Create a folder to put these pages in. Call the folder something like , "Cat Care".
Drag and Drop - Drag and drop the Web pages that go with your new folder to the folder you just created. To drag and drop just click on the name of the Web page you want to add to the folder, drag your mouse while still holding down the button until it's over the folder, then let go. Keep doing this until all the Web pages you want to add to that folder are added. (To choose more than one Web page at a time, hold down the Ctrl button on your keyboard while selecting Web pages from the list.)
Keep Going - Add more folders and sub-folders, and dragging and dropping Web pages, until you are organized.
Categorize Bookmarks in Firefox As You Go
Open Bookmarks Box - When you come across a Web page you want to save to your bookmarks you might as well organize it while you're adding it. Click on "Bookmarks" and then click "Bookmark This Page" to get started.
Name Bookmark - Give your Web page a name. Even though it already has a name, you may still want to give it a more memorable name so you can recognize it easier later.
Example: This is what Photos.com says when I try to bookmark it, "Stock Photos - Professional Royalty-Free Stock Photos by Subscription at Photos.com". I renamed it "Photos.com" to make it easier to remember and find later.
Choose Folder - From the drop down box you can choose a folder to add your Web page to. If you don't see the one you want, click on the downward pointing arrow to open the main folder menu.
Create a New Folder - If you don't have an appropriate folder for the Web page, you can create a new one by clicking the "New Folder" button and creating a new folder name.
Add - Click the "Add" button when you're finished adding your Web page to a folder.
