New York City and Internet WeekJune Puts the Spotlight on the Big Apple and Web Business
New York City's Internet Week will be begin on Monday June 7, 2010 and run through the following Monday, June 14, 2010.
The event was started to acknowledge New York’s successes in the online arena. Social networking leaders, business innovators and community organizations with a strong Internet presence are spotlighted during the week-long event. This year’s sponsors and media partners include Time Warner, Crispin Porter and Bogusky, The Business Insider, Media Bistro, NBC New York, Magnify Net, Moco News and New York Non-Stop. New York City’s First Internet WeekAccording to the city’s official event website, Mayor Michael Bloomberg kicked off New York’s Internet Week for the first time on June 2, 2008 at Gracie Mansion. That initial week-long celebration offered over 70 different seminars, festivities and activities for attendees to engage in. Business leaders will learn ways to improve Internet advertising, the impact of Internet TV on marketing and how to increase Internet security for their customers. The event is open to companies and organizations around the globe. Registration is not required to attend most of the various seminars and other topical offerings. The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences and the Mayor’s Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting are working in partnership to present the event. Internet Conference Panels and Entertainment in New York CityOne the first conferences scheduled for the summer 2009 Internet Week New York celebration was the EconAffinity conference “Capitalizing on User Engagement.” The conference was held in the Edison Ballroom on 47th Street and was an all day event that started at 8:45 A.M. on June 1 and ended at 5:30 P.M on the same day. The conference will focus on major media, advertisers, user site loyalty and the effectiveness of various ad platforms. Other conferences and panels include the “New York Angels Quick Pitch.” Entrepreneurs that have a solid business plan and who are looking for major financial backing from key investors might want to catch this panel. For a $10 cover charge, business owners can listen in on the panel discussions and have their company’s name submitted into the hat for a possible four minute pitch at the end of the event. The June 1 panel will be held at 92Y Tribeca at 200 Hudson Street. Starting time for the panel is 1:30 P.M. There is also the Facebook panel which will discuss possible new ways that students will use the Internet in the future. This panel will be held on June 4 at 4:00 P.M. The panel location is Dulcinea Media, Incorporated at 475 Park Avenue. Closing Events at Internet Week New York“Google 101 Training for Marketing and Advertising Professionals” is one of the closing day events. This Internet Week New York panel starts at 6:30 P.M. on Monday, June 8 at the Fashion Institute of Technology which is located at West 27th Street and 7th Avenue. Throughout the week and on the closing day, there will be arts and entertainment, discussion panels and conferences, targeted information for start-up businesses and social media and advertising and marketing seminars. Because many of the events are free and open to the public, people who are interested in learning more about how to make money operating a business on the Internet are encouraged to attend.
