More and more media companies are figuring out how to use the internet for their benefit. They realize that the trend of file sharing, right or wrong, can have a harmful effect if they fight against it too hard. What many have decided to do was give the people what they want for free and still make a profit.
There are many ways to get things for free on the internet, many of them illegal. Hulu.com is a site people watch free movies and television shows the right way.

Hulu.com is a site that gives the people access to free movies and television shows. They have had some pretty memorable commercials recently starring actors such as Seth McFarlane and Alec Baldwin. According to these commercials aliens are running the entertainment industry and melting our brains with these mindless shows. It may not be far from the truth.
Hulu.com has partnered with networks, both traditional and cable. People will see shows from networks like Fox, NBC, PBS, and Comedy Central. There are episodes of hit TV shows like The Simpsons, The Office, Heroes, and Hell’s Kitchen. There are also some shows that are not as big but may be as good like Criss Angel Mindfreak, Firefly, and Burn Notice.
For those that don’t want to stay up late, Hulu.com has late night talk shows. Catch up with The Tonight Show With Conan O’Brien or see what happened on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Hulu.com also has The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and The Colbert Report.

One of the neat things that Hulu.com offers are the classic TV shows. People can relive a time of their childhood when they stumble across one of their favorite shows they used to watch when they were kids. The great thing about the classic television shows offered by Hulu.com is that they are not ones that are readily available.
Battlestar Galactica was a huge hit, and incredible series, for the SciFi channel, but wouldn’t it be great to relive the inspiration that started it? Every episiode of Battlestar Galactica can be foud on Hulu.com, along with the newer versions.
Johnny Sokko and His Flying Robot was well loved by children everywhere in the late ‘60’s. Now those little boys and girls are all grown up but they can be kids again watching the cheesy special effects of this classic television show.

Have a few hours to kill? Hulu.com can help you with their huge selection of movies. Hulu.com has hundreds of full length movies. Granted there aren’t any movies fresh from the theaters, but there are a lot of top notch movies.
For those into period movies, they can watch movies like Rob Roy or The Last of the Mohicans. Want to watch a documentary? Hulu.com has Supersize Me or Inside Special Forces. For the kids there are movies like The Secret of NIMH and Jonah: A VeggieTales Movie. There is something for everyone.
Hulu.com is a Great Start, but not Perfect
Hulu.com is a brilliant idea, but it is just a start. Most episodes of the current TV shows still running can be found on their website, so it’s not exclusive. But if someone wants to watch an episode of The Simpsons and then watch an episode of The Office, Hulu.com makes it easy.

- Hulu.com is easy to navigate
- They have a huge list of television shows
- New videos are added frequently
What can Hulu.com do better?
- It would be beneficial if they could have an even lower resoltuion for the videos. Without a highend video card Full Screen can be choppy and jerky.
- Lower resolution would also help with buffering. Videos sometimes are halted to buffer, even on on broadband connections.
- Less commercials would be nice. This is how they pay the bills and are a fair trade off, but Hulu.com could find a way to have less of them. Eleven commercials in a two hour movie is a lot.
Hulu.com is a work in progress. There are other sites like it, but Hulu.com has a little edge. Being partially owned by NBC helps to hone that edge. In this fast paced world, however, they had better stay on their toes and continue to evolve or they will be left in the dust.
