Social networking has gone mobile. The two popular websites, MySpace and Facebook, are now available on cell phones, for free.

For people on-the-go, MySpace Mobile Web and Facebook Mobile Web provide free alternatives for staying in touch with others, without the need of personal computers.

MySpace Mobile Web

In a recent press release, News Corp’s Fox Interactive Media (FIM), announced the launching of MySpace Mobile Web, a new advertising-supported service offered to US cell phone customers.

MySpace Mobile Web service allows users with a web-enabled mobile device the freedom, flexibility and capability to perform the following tasks without the need of a personal computer, at no cost:

  • Send and receive MySpace messages
  • Check friend requests
  • Leave comments on MySpace photos and profiles
  • Update MySpace blog
  • Search and locate MySpace friends
  • Ability to change and view mood status

MySpace reports over 80 million people from the United States visit their website every month.

Although MySpace already offers a premium paid subscription service, the new ad-supported Mobile Web beta version is free for all United States customers. (The paid subscription service remains available and includes additional options and bells-and-whistles the free version does not offer).

Facebook Mobile Web

Staying connected with other Facebook members has never been easier! Facebook, the popular social networking site, offers three different mobile packages for registered users:

  • Mobile Web
  • Mobile Uploads
  • Mobile Texts

Facebook Mobile is designed specifically for mobile phones and, depending on which option is chosen, allows users to:

  • Access and update Facebook profiles
  • Track and locate friends
  • Locate maps and driving directions for scheduled events
  • Phone friends directly from a user’s profile
  • Send and receive text messages
  • Search basic profile information

In August, Facebook launched an adapted Mobile Web version made specifically for iPhones.

Facebook Mobile is available to users in the US and Canada and is supported by numerous cell phone carriers. Facebook does not charge for its Mobile Web service.

These two services offer a simple and convenient way to stay connected with friends and loved ones without having to rely on a personal computer. While both MySpace Mobile and Facebook Mobile are free services, cell phone carriers may charge additional fees.

www.zigime.com

hi!!!! everybody I found this site on the web and I thought you would be interested.
Zigime.com is a newcomer to the social networking arena. Picking up where most of the present social networking sites have left off, Zigime.com has many unique features and one that's especially cool - the Friend Manager feature will be a welcome relief for the many members who love to collect hundreds of thousands of friends and then be able to search and sort by age, gender and location.
