On dreary rainy days or cold winter nights, entertain young children with the many kid-safe coloring books and online activities listed below. These interactive coloring pages, books and projects will inspire creativity and keep children entertained for many hours. All projects listed below are online activities, although many can also be printed.

  • Crayola

The folks at Crayola have done it again with their fabulous online coloring website. Many coloring activities are available at Crayola website. Click on the "Coloring" link from the homepage to find an online picture. Twistable crayons, erasables, mini stampers and colored pencils are just a few of the coloring tools available. This website is a keeper!

The National Gallery of Art has created a wonderfully interactive artistic website that is not only fun and educational, it is visually stimulating. Paintbox provides a vast array of creative imagination. From wacky warping to a barrage of color combinations, NGA is highly recommended and a personal favorite. Shockwave is required.

  • Kids-n-Fun

Kids-n-Fun is a wonderful resource for coloring projects with hundreds of printable coloring pages in many different categories. Star Wars, Bambi, A Bugs Life, and Ice Age are just a few of the many printables available. Bookmark this site. Site is available in several languages, including English.

  • PBS Kids Sagwa Paint and Color Pages

This fun online coloring website by PBS Kids organization website offers 10 different Sagwa pictures. Users can mix paint to create unique colors. To easily locate from home page, click the "Coloring" and "Paint and Color" icons to begin. Projects can also be printed.

Up To Ten offers many online coloring projects that are unique and loads of fun. To locate specific area of this website, click on the “Up To Ten Free” area and click on the “Coloring” link. Don’t forget to bookmark this site.

  • Fun School Kaboose Formula Fusion Paint Brush Math

This fun online coloring activity from Fun School Kaboose is not the typical paint-by-numbers project. Players must solve the simple addition problems prior to painting. Once the correct answer is selected, paint the picture with the corresponding paint color's number. To find, click on "Arts and Music Games" from menu.

Over 50,000 people color a new picture every day on Coloring website. Besides the standard paint colors, various textures are also available.

  • Jan Brett Interactive Coloring Pages

Talented artist Jan Brett brings her artwork to children in this lovely website. Geared towards younger children, pictures can be colored or traced. To locate, click on “Activities Pages”, “I’, and “Interactive Coloring Pages” to begin. Projects can also be printed (follow specific directions).

  • BBC CBebbies Painting Game

This fun website from BBC has several coloring activities for children. Paint online in “Paint Away” or act as illustrator in the “Paint a Story” activity. To easily locate from homepage, click on the “Games” and “Painting Game” icons to begin.

  • Black Dog Refrigerator Online Drawing Applet

This Java applet from Black Dog network website is for younger children. To play, click start and start drawing various shapes. To easily locate from the home page, click on the “Internet Refrigerator”, “Coloring and Drawing” and “Black Dogs Online Drawing Applet” links to begin. Java required.

Over 30 virtual coloring pages are included in this website by The Kidz Page. To play, select the tip size of brush and color of choice.

My Free Colouring Pages offers both online and offline coloring activities for younger children, including dot-to-dot projects and numerous online coloring pages. Coloring printables are also available.

  • Noggin Doodle Pad

Noggin website offers a fun and interactive coloring website for preschool-aged children. To doodle, select a scene, and choose from water colors, finger paint, glitter pens, stickers or crayons and draw. Pictures can be saved for later viewing.
