Cool, Free Christmas Desktop Wallpaper: Animated (3D) & Static Christmas Pictures
The Wallpapers website offers computer wallpaper for all seasons, in 3D and static designs. Wallpapers on this site are denoted as one of the following: static, wallery, or animated desktop backgrounds.
Animated and static are fairly self-explanatory; “wallery” means that the wallpaper download includes multiple images in slideshow format. Upon download, different images will rotate into view for an ever-changing desktop. For example, the wallery slideshow entitled “Christmas Season” contains the pictured red ornament, images of candles and gifts, as well as a picture of a Christmas ornament on a twinkling tree.
The Christmas collection consists of ten cool Christmas wallpapers:
- 3D Animated Backgrounds – Christmas tree, Christmas cottage, snow globe, cute ice skating snowmen in front of a candy carnival
- Static Background Images – cabin in the woods, purple Christmas ornament, image of cookies & candy, picture of holiday candles, stocking filled with treats

The Wallpapers website also offers three generic winter-themed computer wallpapers. To access the winter backgrounds, click on “Seasons” at the top of the page, then choose “winter.” The Majestic Winter design is a creek running in between trees covered with snow. The Snowy Hills background is a mountain creek scene with steam rising from the water. The third generic winter image is an up close shot of frosty pine needles.
Note: The wallpapers on this website are free, however, users may be asked to accept offers from the site’s partners during the installation process (this happened during installation of the “Christmas Season” Wallery file).
During installation, acceptance of other offers is clearly noted as optional. To opt out of additional features, click on “Decline” instead of “Accept” when prompted to consider an offer on the installation screen. The installation will advance either way.
Before Downloading “Free” Christmas Wallpaper: Make Sure It’s Actually Free
As evidenced by the Wallpapers website above, sometimes free computer backgrounds come with strings attached. In the example above, the wallpapers were free, but to actually get them, users must opt out of multiple offers in the process.
