Bill Gates and Microsoft are going to give you money. No he's not! If you received this email telling your that Bill Gates and Microsoft are going to give you money, read
There is an email circulating the Net claiming that Bill Gates and Microsoft will pay your for forwarding the email to your friends. This email has been around for years and no money has ever been given out by Bill Gates or Microsoft. Furthermore there is no way to track emails so there is no way for Bill Gates or Microsoft to know if you received his email or sent it on to your friends. That sort of technology doesn't exist.
The email looks something like this:
When you forward this e-mail to friends, Microsoft can and will track it (if you are a Microsoft Windows user) for a two week time period. For every person that you forward this e-mail to, Microsoft will pay you $245.00, for every person that you sent it to that forwards it on, Microsoft will pay you $243.00 and for every third person that receives it, you will be paid $241.00. Within two weeks, Microsoft will contact you for your address and then send you a cheque.
If you get a chain email it's probably a hoax, don't believe it. There are hundreds, maybe thousands, of hoax emails circulating around the Net. When you receive one of these emails tell the person who sent it to you that it is a hoax, then delete it. It's not real and nothing magic is going to happen to you if you send the email on to all your friends. The only thing that might happen is that you annoy your friends.
When I was very new to the Internet I received an email. It was my very first chain email. It was funny so I sent it to all the email addresses in my inbox (which at the time were very few). Soon I received an email from a group I belonged to chastising me for sending them junk mail. I didn't know it was a bad thing to do to send junk mail because I was new to the Net, but I got in trouble with them anyway.
Don't pass on junk email, unless you know the person you are sending it to will want to receive it.
