YouTube offers viewers a variety of videos from around the world. These best of YouTube picks offer a wide range of videos that truly stand out.

YouTube is a video sharing website that allows people from around the world to both share and watch videos. It offers tiny glimpses into other people’s lives while serving as a worldwide stage for people who aspire to be seen and heard.

This best of YouTube videos list is based off of viewer hits (they all have well over one million) and longevity. Each video is easily searchable on YouTube by using the bolded title and the username of the person who posted the video.

Evolution of Dance

This video was posted by judsonlaipply. Motivational speaker and dancer Judson Laipply’s Evolution of Dance video features Laipply dancing to a variety of songs. The beauty of the video is that his dances imitate the song that’s playing. From the Twist to the Backstreet Boys, the songs will resonate with every viewer.

Judson Laipply’s website maintains that this video is the most viewed and top rated video of all time on YouTube and since most people watch it multiple times, it’s easy to see why. Be sure to also check out the newly released Evolution of Dance 2.

Charlie the Unicorn

This video was posted by SecretAgentBob. Created by Jason Steele of Filmcow.com, this animated video features a lazy unicorn named Charlie who is persuaded to go on a journey to Candy Mountain. Filled with singing unicorns and crazy animation sequences, the subsequent video is filled with madcap hilarity and an ending that can’t be beat. Be sure to also check out the two sequels.

Trapped in an Elevator for 41 Hours

This video was posted by NewYorkerDotCom. This video is a sped up time elapsed version of the 41 hour ordeal of Business Week production manager Nicholas White.

His story was told by Nick Paumgarten in the April 21, 2008 edition of The New Yorker. In October of 1999, Nicholas White was working late in New York’s McGraw-Hill Building when he decided to go out for a cigarette break. He was in an express elevator on his way back up to the 43rd floor when the elevator stopped.

After trying the intercom button, setting off the emergency alarm, and finding the escape hatch locked, he found himself trapped. With no watch or cell phone he had no concept of the passing of time. This video, taken from the elevator camera, shows his 41 hour ordeal. Afterwards, he quit his job and settled outside of court for an undisclosed amount of money.

Battle at Kruger Island

This video was posted by Jason275. This YouTube video was filmed by Jason Schlosberg at South Africa’s Kruger National Park’s Transport Dam. This video depicts a truly epic wildlife battle. It was voted the winner of YouTube’s Best Eyewitness Video. It was so widely covered by the media that National Geographic sent Jason Schlosberg back to Kruger Island in 2007 and made it into a documentary entitled Caught on Safari: The Battle at Kruger.

Improv Everywhere

The final video is really a series of videos created and filmed by the group Improv Everywhere. Improv Everywhere was formed by actor Charlie Todd in August of 2001. The group has carried out and filmed 85 missions. Missions focus on creating unique improvisational scenes like Food Court Musical, No Pants Subway Ride, and Frozen Grand Central. Charlie Todd compliments the group’s videos with a blog called Urban Prankster.

These best of YouTube videos were chosen because of their viewer hits and longevity. All of the videos have over a million hits, with The Evolution of Dance registering the most at 128 million viewers and counting. The Battle at Kruger Island inspired a documentary andImprov Everywhere is making and posting news videos of its missions. Out of the millions of videos, these videos are among the best that YouTube has to offer.
