Some online services provide live, streaming television, some provide previously recorded programs and others provide listings. No special high-tech equipment or expensive hardware is needed to watch television online. In most cases, all that is required is a computer, monitor, media player and broadband connection. Movies are also available. The service is only available for those living in the United States.

  • Fancast – Watch full-length episodes and movies, trailers, interviews and clips or read about that favorite television star on Fancast. Registration is required and the service is only available to those residing in the United States.

  • Fox on Demand – Watch that favorite full-length Fox episode on Fox on Demand. The free service is available to those living in the US.

  • AOLVideo - Currently in beta, AOLVideo has millions of free full-length shows, movie trailers, viral and music videos searchable by genre, category or channel. Users can watch in full-screen mode and can embed videos into an existing blog or website.

  • ViewMyTV – Launched in 2006, ViewMyTV offers an easy-to-use interface of more than 200 channels. Search by top-rated and recently watched programs, genre, region or country. Registered users can save favorite channels, invite friends and rate channels.

  • wwiTV– World Wide Internet TV, wwiTV, is a free service that lists over 3000 television channels from near and far. Users may need to disable the pop-up blocker to view the television shows.

  • TVWeb360 – This service lists more than 1000 television stations from all over the world searchable by genre, language or country. The spiffy interface is simple and straightforward to use. No registration is required.

  • Inner-Live – This online site streams television and news shows right onto the user’s computer. Features include a chat window allowing viewers to chat with other viewers watching the same show, search by country or show genre. No registration is required and full-screen mode is available.

  • TVChannelsFree – This website provides more than 3000 television channels worldwide. Users can browse by category, country, most watched and can chat with others viewers.
Pay TV Services

  • Amazon Video on Demand – With Amazon Video on Demand, users can stream or download videos without commercial interruption. Compatible with both the Mac and PC, users can watch a favorite episode on a computer and portable device. Some episodes cost $1.99 per each. The Amazon Video on Demand service is restricted to those residing in the United States.
